Updates June 21st

Seahorse families,

Happy Solstice! It's hard to believe that we are almost half way through our season already. We appreciate everyone's continued time and efforts to be informed seahorses by reading our various updates and policy reminders below.

Many of you declared for all meets at the start of the season - thank you! Now is a great time to revisit your remaining meet declarations and make any necessary changes to help the team avoid scratches. We've noticed an increase in "notes to the coach" in the meet declarations. Notes to the coach should ONLY be used to communicate scheduling conflicts ("leaving for baseball at 11am") or an injury ("no backstroke - still wearing a waterproof cast"). Coach Andrew puts a lot of time and consideration into entries and considers what swimmers are working on in practice, who has a "legal" kick, who may score points (in a league meet), etc. Please also note that parents should not make requests about number of events. The coaches agree upon entries per swimmer in advance of each meet to ensure equity amongst swimmers and meet duration. If you have a change to your declaration after the deadline, then please use this form.

Another friendly policy reminder - if you hire a sub, please remember to (1) notify the Parent Jobs folks ([email protected]) and (2) remind your sub to check in with Parent Jobs. Failure to do so may result in a fine, as our Parent Jobs folks are already very busy and do not have extra time for detective work! It takes teamwork to make the dream work; many hands make light work; all the cliches.

Now onto the fun updates! Please start populating our slide show drop box so we can relive the fun and sweet LT moments at awards night! To help with organizing, please rename files if possible with age group + last name(s) (example: “7-8_Chao”). We especially love:

  • Group photos with teammates
  • Action shots from meets/practices
  • Coaches, parent volunteers & team spirit moments
  • Fun activities and behind-the-scenes memories

Please prioritize group/team photos over multiple individual shots of the same swimmer so we can include as many Seahorses as possible! Thank you for helping capture another amazing season!

Are you in need of a new personalized swim cap? If so, please let Marisa Lynn know by tomorrow - Monday, 6/22! Caps may not be in till mid-July.

Are you feeling like you can't get enough swim meets?! If so, you are in luck! Forest Park will be hosting an invitational on Sunday, July 12th. You can find more information here. Please consider this a "save-the-date" and we'll be in touch with sign-up instructions. Also, please note that if LT brings more than 20 swimmers, then we'll be assigning timing shifts!

Charity opportunity: Springbrook reached out to let us know they are gathering supplies to assemble welcome baskets for families moving into new homes with the support of Hope Solutions at our upcoming meet (Tuesday, 6/30). If you are interested in contributing, you can sign up here to bring any of the items in this Signup Genius. It's an easy lift with a big impact and a great way to team together with our neighbors/opponents!
