LT’s Championship Meet Responsibilities

In 2021 and 2022, LTST’s league-specified role in the DCSL Championship Meet was Meet Director / Desk. Therefore, the last two years, the majority of our team’s responsibilities related to hosting the Championship Meet have been performed by our awesome Desk Team. For two years prior to that, we were responsible for Facilities (i.e. hiring the portable restrooms, monitoring the parking lot, etc.) This year, our team’s league-specified responsibility is Setup / Breakdown.

Yes, we have always set up our own team area and contributed to some of the on-deck setup. However, this year we are responsible for setup tasks that have been performed by other teams for the last 14 years… things like: setting up the timers’ chairs; installing the backstroke flags, lane lines, and starting blocks; setting up and storing temporary fencing; securing a felt pathway on the deck so that little feet don’t burn, etc. We will need to pick up and return a U-Haul truck to transport some of this equipment.

Additionally, we are responsible for providing Timers, our own Shepherds, etc. as usual.

Team Area + Hospitality

Because our responsibilities are heavily geared toward setup and breakdown of the pool deck this year, we want to alleviate the setup required in our own team area (which is in the upper parking lot again). We have engaged a professional tenting company to build a large-scale tent for our shared use. This will allow families to leave their personal pop-up tents at home, and make for an efficient, as-cool-as-possible team area. If you are familiar with the OMPA Championship swim meet, you may know that professional tenting is something that the Orinda/Moraga teams have leveraged for many years.

Additionally, we intend to provide coffee, bagels, and ice chests in our team area, as we have in the past.

The tenting is not an expense that we planned for before the season began, but we do think it is money well spent. And everyone loves bagels. If you are able, we would appreciate DCSL-participating families contributing toward the “Hospitality” expenses of the tent, bagels and coffee. The suggested amount is $30-50 per family and may be sent via Venmo to @ltsttreasurer. Thank you in advance for contributing what is comfortable for your family.

Parent Job Details

  • All families participating in the Championship meet (even Star Job families) are asked to sign up for ONE JOB. The only families who are exempt are those who have *only* 15-18 swimmers. (Of course, if 15-18 families are interested in picking up a shift or lending a hand in some way, we welcome that and thank you!)
  • After parent job signups close on July 17 at 7:00 PM, shifts will be assigned to participating families who have not yet signed up for jobs.
  • If you sign up for a job and decide to hire a Substitute, your Sub’s contact information is due to the Parent Job Coordinators by 7:00 PM on July 21.
  • There are a number of jobs that may NOT be performed by a Substitute. If you do not claim a job during signups, are assigned a role that cannot be subbed out, and are unable to perform your assigned job, you will need to make arrangements to swap jobs with another family. These arrangements are NOT the responsibility of the Parent Job Coordinators.

Thank you again for your engagement and support. As you know by now, swim meets do not happen without the contributions (time, funds, muscle) of many dedicated parents. We appreciate your efforts so much.
